A 100-year-old heritage bungalow in Burnaby has sold for $1.8 million.

The six-bedroom, four-bathroom home sold on Oct. 16 after 52 days on the market, according to the listing. It was originally priced at $1.99 million.

The 3,294 square-foot home at 5488 Smith Ave., just north of Central Park, sits on a 7,261-sq.-ft. lot.

The home has a “cozy” wood-burning fireplace with original turquoise tiles and “stylish” 1920s milk glass lighting in the main hallway, according to additional documents.

The documents note there is potential for and interest in a land assembly with neighbouring properties.

Burnaby’s heritage inventory states the house was first owned by Casper Newhoven, manager of Empire Transfer and Storage Co. It is likely Newhoven’s parents, Cornelius and Catherina, also lived in the home, as well as his brother Martin.

The inventory called the Newhoven Residence a “well-maintained example” of a Late Craftsman bungalow with a gabled roof, tapered verandah piers, multi-paned windows and stained glass sidelights.

Eight homes sold in the Central Park neighbourhood in October, with a median sold price of $1.37 million, according to data from Zealty.ca.
