The Richmond RCMP says two men have been charged after a break and enter at a store in Richmond’s McArthurGlen Designer Outlet last month.
Police say that just after 4 a.m. on Aug. 15, they received reports of a stolen vehicle crashing through the mall gates and into the front of a store.
Two men allegedly entered the store, stole merchandise, and then drove away, Mounties say.
“Police quickly located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle,” police said Sept. 3.
“After a tire-deflation device was successfully deployed, the vehicle continued and collided with two police vehicles before coming to a stop near No. 3 Road and Capstan Way.”
Police say the suspects allegedly tried to run away on foot before being arrested without further incident. All stolen merchandise has been recovered.
Derek Muirhead and Shahbaz Aulakh have been charged with break and enter, mischief, dangerous operation of a vehicle, assault of a peace officer with a weapon, and obstructing a peace officer.
Both suspects were also arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants, police say. They remain in custody awaiting bail hearings.
