Kudos: Richmondites raised $3,505 for B.C. flood victims

The donation will add up to $10,515 since the federal and provincial governments will be matching every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

Richmond businesses and residents came together last Sunday to help out B.C. flood victims by donating $3,505 to the Canadian Red Cross.

The donation, held by the Richmond Community Coalition and Richmond Mandarin Lions Club, raised $3,505 within two hours at the Continental Seafood restaurant.

Richmond city councillor Chak Au said that this winter would be extremely tough for people who have lost their homes and belongings due to flooding.

He noted that dozens of Richmondites stepped up at the restaurant to help in any way they could, including one senior who was on his way to visit his sick wife in the hospital.

The donation will add up to $10,515 since the federal and provincial governments will be matching every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross for B.C. flood victims.
