Vancouver weather forecast: Warm temperatures, plenty of sun

The rest of the week is going to be a beauty.

Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley are in for a treat, as plenty of sun and warm temperatures settle in over the region.

“It’s bright, it’s clear, temperatures are on the rise,” 1130 NewsRadio meteorologist Michael Kuss said on Thursday morning. “Thursday and Friday will be the hottest days we’ve had so far this year.”

“It gets up to 23 degrees this afternoon, with a light westerly breeze blowing a little cooler by the water,” he explained, adding that it will feel around 17 degrees by the coast.

“Normal highs are closer to 14 degrees this time of year.”

Friday will see even warmer temperatures, Kuss says.

“All sun again tomorrow, with highs as warm as 24,” he explained. “Slightly backing off on Saturday, but Saturday still looks fantastic — mainly sunny with highs as warm as 18 degrees.”

“Spring is off to a really nice start. There hasn’t been any significant precipitation since April 8,” he said.

Watch out for one-day temperature records to break, he explains.

“We’ll be close to record highs across the lower mainland the next 2 days but may not quite get there,” Kuss said.

The record for April 24 in Vancouver is 20.9 degrees, and 25.2 degrees in Abbotsford. For April 25, it’s 19.5 degrees in Vancouver and 26.7 degrees in Abbotsford.

Kuss says to expect rain and precipitation to return on Monday, with “temperatures back to seasonal next week.”
