Vancouver Island connections to the latest release of the Epstein files

Newly released court documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein contain several references to Vancouver Island and Victoria.

The U.S. Department of Justice made more than 3.5 million pages of records public on Jan. 30, launching a searchable online database of material connected to the convicted sex offender and his associates.

A search by CHEK News found multiple documents linking Epstein’s network to Vancouver Island.

One record details a 2005 travel itinerary for Ghislaine Maxwell and her then-boyfriend, billionaire tech entrepreneur Ted Waitt. According to the document, the pair flew by private jet into Victoria on June 30, 2005, and stayed three nights at the Fairmont Empress Hotel.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in the United States for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.

Another document is a 2013 email sent to Epstein by Michael Bloomfield, who was associated with the Victoria-based Harmony Foundation of Canada, a registered charity. In the email, Bloomfield encourages Epstein to review the group’s latest report.

The message was sent years after Epstein’s 2009 conviction in Florida for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

The Harmony Foundation has since closed its office on Fairfield Road in Victoria. CHEK News contacted Bloomfield for comment, but did not receive a response.

The document release also includes a 2018 email from Lawrence Krauss, a Canadian-American physicist who has been accused of sexual misconduct. In the message, Krauss discusses looking at properties on Vancouver Island and suggests he and Epstein could buy land there if they were forced to leave the United States.

The latest release includes millions of documents, thousands of photographs, and hundreds of hours of video, providing new insight into Epstein’s global network and the people who moved within it.

The Justice Department says the searchable archive will continue to be updated as more material is reviewed and processed.
