‘This isn’t real!’: Lower Mainland couple wins $500,000 on Lotto Max

A couple living in the Lower Mainland are half-a-million dollars richer.

Joyce and Brandon Cheshire were shopping when they discovered they had won a $500,000 Extra prize from the Oct. 10 Lotto Max draw.

“We were at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Vedder Road,” Joyce recalls. “I said, ‘This isn’t real!’”

“We couldn’t get our heads around it,” Brandon says.

The Cheshires checked their ticket at an in-store self-scanner before going home to reconfirm the win online.

The Chilliwack couple were most excited to tell their daughter about the big win. “She didn’t believe it,” Brandon says.

With their winnings, they plan to invest some of it while helping their daughter.

Joyce says the couple feels “absolutely happy” and that winning is “a wonderful experience.” No kidding.

The winning ticket was purchased at Save-On-Foods on Vedder Road in Chilliwack.
