Richmond offer more than 20 programs for Earth Week celebration

Richmondites will have plenty to do to celebrate Earth Week from April 15 to 23.

More than 20 free and low-cost family-friendly activities will be available for the week, which include an introduction to birding, guided tours of Paulik Park and invasive plant removal at Terra Nova Rural Park.

The programs will focus on “environmental sustainability, citizen science, community engagement and garden management,” according to the City of Richmond’s media release.

The city has partnered up with the Ministry of Natural Resources, along with community organizations such as Garden City Conservation Society, Birds Canada, the Lower Mainland Green Team, Urban Bounty and the Richmond Garden Club.

Community members, including individuals and businesses, who want to help out with the city’s environment outside of Earth Week may also be interested in the Partners for Beautification Program, which promotes local citizen stewardship. Activities include cleaning up litter in adopted areas or helping out with shoreline cleanups.

A full list of Earth Week events can be found on the city’s website.
