The Ridge Meadows RCMP is on the scene along Lougheed Highway Wednesday after a pedestrian was struck and killed in an early morning crash.
All westbound lanes are closed at Harris Road, with two eastbound lanes also blocked.
Const. Tisha Parsons says police received reports of a “serious motor vehicle incident involving a pedestrian” at around 2:40 a.m.
“Upon police arrival, it was determined that the female pedestrian was deceased,” Parsons said in a release.
“This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.”
Mounties are warning drivers to expect significant delays in the area as multiple investigation units work to determine the cause of the crash. There is no anticipated time for reopening.
“The Ridge Meadows RCMP is requesting your patience in your morning commute, and asking that you plan an alternative route,” Mounties said.
Police are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the area to contact police at 604-463-6251.
“If you were a witness at this scene and have been affected in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP Victim Services program at 604-467-7650.”
