A stretch of Highway 1 in Langley has reopened Thursday after an early morning crash killed a motorcyclist.
The highway was closed eastbound for several hours from 232nd Street to 264th Street.
In a release, the Langley RCMP says Mounties were told the crash happened in the eastbound lanes at 240 Street around 4:20 a.m.
“Initial investigation indicates a car and a motorcycle were travelling east on the Highway when they collided. Unfortunately, the driver of the motorcycle succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision,” Corp. Craig van Herk explained.
Corp. Dave Noon shared on social media that the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service had been deployed to the crash to investigate.
Around 2:30 p.m., Noon said he expected the highway to reopen within an hour. Around 3:30 p.m., callers to 1130 NewsRadio confirmed the highway did reopen.
DriveBC says delays can still be expected in the area.

●Vehicles identified, BC Highway Patrol investigating
In an update Thursday afternoon, the BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) said it had taken over investigating the collision.
BCHP says the vehicles involved were a black 2012 Honda Civic and a red 2001 Harley Davidson. Mounties say the driver of the Honda was taken to hospital with “minor injuries.” They confirmed that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
