Dear Friends:
I am pleased to extend my warmest greetings to all those celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Tonight, we join East and Southeast Asian communities in Canada and throughout the world to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Also known as the Moon Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a joyful occasion that brings together families, friends and community members to give thanks for a bountiful harvest and the success of the past year, and to look ahead with optimism. A full moon will shine over the festivities, symbolizing unity and prosperity.
This occasion also offers a chance to highlight the many contributions that Canadians of East and Southeast Asian descent continue to make to our country, and to learn more about their rich cultures, customs, and traditions. Canada is truly a multicultural nation, made stronger and more resilient by our diversity.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I offer my best wishes for a happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
